"Sometimes there are questions that people won't want you to ask, because no one has the answer. Ask them anyway." Racism, innocence, identity, humanity - no stone is left unturned in Princess Freckles and the Forever Kingdom; a solo show seeing its New York debut at this year's 2016 United Solo Theatre Festival.
An autobiographical solo seri-comedy about innocence, forgiveness and the journey between the two, Princess Freckles and the Forever Kingdom follows one family through three generations of life in Southern Africa; the colour and beauty of fairytale childhoods wrapped in mud baths and elephant rides, and the chilling realization that not every forever is a happily ever after. Written and performed by South African actress Amy Letcher (Black Sails, Blood Drive), Princess Freckles and the Forever Kingdom invites the audience into the magic and mysticism of the African countryside, even as it opens one family's "that thing we'll never talk about again" box, and dares the audience to look inside.
With its New York debut on October 29, this is one show that audiences won't want to miss! In the words of Los Angeleno musician Adrian Bourgeois; "I cannot remember too many times that I've been this moved and blown away by such a raw and emotionally honest performance. You can bet I'll be dragging everyone I know to go see Princess Freckles [and the Forever Kingdom]."
