Everyman Theatre Begins Work on New Home

By:

On Tuesday, June 7th Everyman celebrated the groundbreaking at its new home on the Westside! The former Town Theatre was given to Everyman by Bank of America and the Harold A. Dawson Trust. The $17.7 million renovation will be completed in the fall of 2012.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and a host of other political and business leaders were on hand at the event.

"Everyman's move into the Towne Theatre is a momentous occasion for Baltimore's arts community, and will build on the progress already taking place on the city's Westside," said the Mayor. "For decades, Everyman has brought regional and national attention to Baltimore's growing theater community. This new location will allow Everyman to further improve Baltimore's reputation as one of the most creative cities in America."

Many of Everyman's favorite actors were also in attendance, including Resident Company members Bruce Nelson, Stan Weiman, Megan Anderson and Vivienne Shub. Winter Concert Series favorites Howard Breitbart, Delores King Williams and James Gardiner opened and closed the festivities with performances of "There's No Business Like Show Business" and the aptly titled "The Best Is Yet To Come."

You can help Everyman cross the finish line by making a gift to its Capital Campaign. A contribution today will be increased through a generous matching grant from the France-Merrick Foundation. To find out how your gift can support our move, visit our website
