UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a developmental reading of Sounds Like Love, a new comedy by Arnold B. Horwitt (Make Mine Manhattan, Plain and Fancy) featuring three original songs by Horwitt, Tony Award winner Albert Hague (Plain and Fancy, The Fig Leaves Are Falling) and Grammy Award winner Allan Sherman (The Fig Leaves Are Falling). Originally written circa 1955, the previously unproduced play is adapted and directed by Ben West (At Home Abroad, Make Mine Manhattan, Gatsby).

Set in a zany music publishing office in the heart of New York City, Sounds Like Love follows a bright-eyed young songwriter from Tennessee who dreams of making it in the Big Apple. Love triangles, lunatic cowboys and magical melodies abound in this madcap romantic comedy.

The cast for Sounds Like Love will feature John Behlmann (Wild Animals, The 39 Steps), Erin Davie (A Little Night Music, Curtains, Grey Gardens), Claybourne Elder (Bonnie and Clyde, Road Show), Becky Gulsvig (Legally Blonde), Matt Lutz (Bonnie and Clyde) and Christy McIntosh (Evil Dead: The Musical) and Megan Sikora (Curtains, How To Succeed…). Additional casting will be announced soon.

Sounds Like Love will be presented on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 6pm at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts’ Bruno Walter Auditorium (111 Amsterdam Avenue between 64th and 65th Streets). Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

UMC is also currently presenting a new production of the 1969 musical comedy The Fig Leaves Are Falling by Allan Sherman and Albert Hague. The limited engagement begins on January 10, 2013 at the Connelly Theatre.
