Epic Repertory Theater Company, under the direction of founding Artistic Director Richard Kuranda, is proud to present a workshop reading of SWEET MERCY by Melody Cooper, directed by Claudia Weill on Sunday, February 12th at 7 pm at Primary Stages (354 West 45th Street, between 8th & 9th Ave).

At a military wedding in the U.S. in 2004, a former U.N. peace keeping officer and an NGO worker are reunited, both still haunted by what they witnessed in Rwanda in 1994. Sweet Mercy examines and attempts to understand genocide in the hope of exorcising the evil, and being able to rejoin the living. Amongst the ruins, playwright Melody Cooper finds humor, hope, love and.....Titus Andronicus.

The cast includes Ty Jones (Revengers Tragedy), Katori Hall (O'Neill, Cherry Lane), Christen Simon, Niki Sarich Rising, Raphael Nash Thompson and Marcus Carl Franklin (Caroline or Change).

Epic Rep is also proud to announce that Melody Cooper has been awarded a commission for 2006. Epic Rep's past commissions include: Obie Award winning playwright Romulus Linney's Going After Cacciato as adapted from the National Book Award winning novel by Tim O'Brien.
