Emmy Winning Comedian LESLIE JORDAN In FRUIT FLY At The Waterfront
EMMY-WINNING COMEDIAN Leslie Jordan TO APPEAR AT THE WATERFRONT PLAYHOUSE
The Waterfront Playhouse presents Emmy Award-winner Leslie Jordan as part of Key West Pride Week. Mr. Jordan will be bringing his critically-acclaimed new show, "Fruit Fly" to the Waterfront stage on June 8th and 9th at 8 pm. Tickets are $45, and they are going fast. Mr. Jordan is best known for his performance in the stage and film versions of "Sordid Lives," and his Emmy-winning turn as Beverley Leslie, the comic foil to Megan Mullally's Karen Walker on "Will and Grace." He has performed on Broadway, Off Broadway, film, TV and stages all over the world. As "Variety," the bible of show biz said, "If Leslie Jordan didn't exist, we'd have to invent him, this irrepressible, garrulous Chattanooga pixie who got through a Southern Baptist childhood and stirrings of Gay Lib and lived triumphantly to tell the tale."
"Fruit Fly" asks the eternal question 'Do gay men become their mothers?' To answer that question, Mr. Jordan travels back in time using show-and-tell to take the audience on a hilarious, and sometimes touching, journey. From the day a teenage Leslie sits down with his caring but clueless mother to inform her that he has decided to forego college to become a female impersonator, all the way to a gay Alaska cruise with 2,000 gay men on which a 53-year old Mr. Jordan witnesses his aging mother's astounding metamorphosis, Mr. Jordan is in his element.
"The Dallas Examiner says "'Fruit Fly' is supremely delicious, authentic, poignant, and howlingly funny…I recommend this show to anybody, regardless of orientation." BroadwayWorld.com raves "The name Leslie Jordan is synonymous with funny, saucy, sassy and simply sensational."
Tickets are available at the Waterfront Playhouse box office at 305-294-5015 or online at www.WaterfrontPlayhouse.org.
