The New York Post reports that famed critic and New Yorker scribe John Lahr has filed legal action against legendary Broadway star Elaine Stritch, for the work he did with her on the 2003 Tony Award-winning show, Elaine Stritch: AT LIBERTY.
According to The Post, Lahr claims he is "due a portion of the profits each time Stritch performs her "LIBERTY" piece -- in which she sings while re counting her years on Broadway and a long battle with alcohol -- and that he's been stiffed, he said in court papers."
Stritch remarked to The Post she had no hard feelings for Lahr, despite the lawsuit he filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. "He made it possible for me to do my show, so I'm indebted to him for life," she said. "I have nothing bad to say about him. I don't want to have dinner with him tonight, but I'm very fond of him."
Lahr is seeking unspecified damages, restitution and 20 percent of the gross that Stritch earns for performing the show. To read the full article in The New York Post click here.
Elaine Stritch is currently appearing in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of THE FULL MONTY. The 83 years young star plays the role of Jeanette Burmeister in the production, which runs until July 12.
