America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain continues their 84th season with a weekend of dancing and classical music. Swingtime Big Band returns for an evening of swing and big band on Saturday, July 27th (6:30PM) and the Dover String Quartet brings their youthful enthusiasm to Brahms and Mozart with clarinetist AlexanderFiterstein on Sunday, July 28th (3PM). This weekend's concerts are a fine example of the diversity of musicians that Music Mountain has showcased this summer; introducing audiences, young and old, to chamber, jazz, and country music. The summer tradition continues through September 8th.

Get ready to dance into the dusk with Long Island's premier Swing Era Band, Swingtime Big Band, led by Steve Shaiman. For their sixth( Correct. it is the 6th time!) visit to Music Mountain, Long Island's authentic swing era band plays "Musical Map-Quest," visiting a variety of destinations in song and featuring frequent stops at their home base - New York, New York! The concert will feature music from legendary bandleaders: Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw - plus special 100th birthday tributes to Woody Herman and Charlie Barnet!

In their second appearance at Music Mountain, the Dover String Quartet will be joined by noted Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein to perform Weber: Clarinet Quintet in B Flat Major, Opus 34; Brahms: String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Opus 51 #2; and Mozart: Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581. They have won top prizes at the Fischoff Competition and the London International String Quartet Competition. The quartet recently concluded a European tour with performances throughout Germany, Austria, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The Dover String Quartet is currently the Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas.
