'Dirty Dancing' Miami Auditions For National Tour

OPEN CALL –MIAMI DANCERS INVITED TO AUDITION FOR U.S. NATIONAL TOUR OF

'DIRTY DANCING – THE CLASSIC STORY ON STAGE' 

The U.S. National Tour of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage announces it will be holding an open casting call for consideration of all dancing roles, including the starring roles of Baby and Johnny.  Auditions will be held starting 10 a.m.on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Dance Attack Studios (13424 South West 131^st Street.) Producers are seeking both male and female dancers of any ethnicity with partnering skills.  Training and experience with Latin and ballroom dancing is a plus.  Women should arrive with dance shoes (with a heel) and a skirt – men should wear jazz shoes.  All dancers must bring a picture and resume stapled together.  Sign-up will occur between 9 – 11 a.m.on the morning of auditions.  If you sing, bring sheet music and be prepared to sing a classic pop/rock song of the 50's or 60's.  Rehearsals begin around June, 2008 in Chicago.

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage will premiere in Chicago for a limited engagement beginning September 2, 2008 before embarking on a multi-city U.S. tour.   

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage is a coming of age love story involving the talented and headstrong dancer Johnny Castle and Frances "Baby" Houseman.  During her family's summer vacation at the popular Kellerman's resort, Baby, a doctor's daughter with dreams of joining the Peace Corps, meets Johnny, the guy from the wrong side of the tracks.  Against all odds, they fall in love, learning life-changing lessons along the way.  The original story of Dirty Dancing has been expanded for the stage.  While keeping magical moments from the film, in the theater, Baby and Johnny's relationship is developed further; there is more sensational dancing; and, more music, joining favorite songs like the Academy Award-winning "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life," "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby" and  "Do You Love Me?"
