Director Daniel Sullivan Injured After 'Midsummer' Fall
Tony Award-winning director Daniel Sullivan, who is currently helming the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, was injured the other day after falling through a trap door on the stage of the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, according to Variety.
The injury took place during a technical rehearsal of the play. He is now in a New York City hospital, but is expected to make a quick recovery and return to rehearsals within a few days. "It's not yet certain whether the 'Midsummer' timeline will be at all delayed," states the article.
Sullivan, who will next direct Harold Pinter's The Homecoming on Broadway, won a Tony for helming Proof and has earned multiple nominations. His other Broadway credits include Prelude to a Kiss, Rabbit Hole, Julius Caesar, Brooklyn Boy, The Retreat from Moscow, Morning's at Seven, Major Barbara, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Ah, Wilderness!, The Sisters Rosensweig and The Heidi Chronicles.
A Midsummer Night's Dream, currently slated to begin previews on Tuesday, August 7th for a run through September 9th, stars Tim Blake Nelson, Laila Robins, Martha Plimpton, Keith David and Mireille Enos, among others.
