Iconic beauty and legendary stage and screen performer Diahann Carroll remarks on her long-awaited Broadway return in A RAISIN IN THE SUN, co-starring Denzel Washington, as well as the continued popularity of the classic play in a new interview.

In discussing her return to the Great White Way after a near-thirty-year absence, following AGNES OF GOD back in 1982, Carroll comments, "I feel that most of us like to come back to the theater for multiple reasons - it is a reminder of what we can do, what we cannot do and what it is we need to address in terms of holding on to whatever gifts God was kind enough to give us."

Carroll continues, "It's a responsibility to that gift. Things like that come with responsibility and I'm not sure that I expected it at this time, but I think Scott Rudin is an extraordinary human being," she says referring to the producer of the forthcoming 2014 Broadway revival officially announced earlier this week.

As for how the dynamic diva famous for starring roles in NO STRINGS on Broadway and SUNSET BOULEVARD in Toronto, the groundbreaking JULIA and mega-hit DYNASTY on TV and many memorable feature film turns - including an Oscar nomination for CLAUDINE - plans to get back into the routine of an eight-a-week grind? Carroll asserts, "once you're into the flow of it, it becomes a life-style."

As for A RAISIN IN THE SUN and the power of the implicit message in Lorraine Hansberry's play, Carroll says, "I think it's one of our most original plays and I think that's why it keeps coming back. It's one of those classics."

She would know! Like a fine wine, that Diahann - no, Miss Carroll. Always Miss Carroll.
