Denise Wiesenmeyer, of L.A.'s Attic Theatre, Dies at 53
A local woman involved in the founding of a prestigious Los Angeles theater group died Tuesday at her home in Chatham.
Denise Wiesenmeyer, 53, who used the stage name Denise Ragan, was the co-founder of the Attic Theatre Ensemble in 1987 and served as executive producer.
Until a recent move to its new home, the Attic Theatre Ensemble was "the oldest producing organization on Hollywood's Theatre Row," according to its website.
Wiesenmeyer was born in Springfield and was a graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School, Lincoln Land Community College and Webster Groves College in St. Louis. After college, she lived in California until 1999, her sister, Diane Brinkman, said.
She appeared in "bit parts" in television, films, theatre and commercials, as well as on "Divorce Court," she said. A memorial gathering followed by a service was held Saturday at the Sangamon Prairie Reception, Chatham.
