After many successful Broadway productions, a big screen adaptation and over 40 awards worldwide, the highly-praised musical thriller Sweeney Todd will play in one of Canada's greatest venue: Le Capitole de Que?bec. The production will mark the show's world premiere in French and will definitely be Quebec City's EVENT of next fall!

From October 28 to November 8, 2014, an amazing cast will take the Capitole's stage by storm, performing the legendary show by Oscar-winner Stephen Sondheim, directed by Louis Morin (Quebec City's Avenue Q), under Guillaume Saint-Laurent's (Montreal's Hairspray and Sister Act) musical direction.

Produced by Decibel and Juste pour Rire, the Quebec production will introduce Renaud Paradis as demon barber Sweeney Todd, alongside Stephanie Lapointe (Johanna), Jean Petitclerc (Judge Turpin) and Katee Julien (Miss Lovett).

"Sweeney Todd transports into a fantastic universe. He'll discover a city with a thirst for revenge: London at the time of the industrial revolution. This show is funny, grim, surrealist and totally entertaining. We dive into black humor, something quite unusual in the world of musicals, and that's what makes this show so unique", tells Louis Morin, director of Sweeney Todd and founder of De?cibel, the creative team behind the acclaimed NUIT BLANCHE, held during the Quebec Winter Carnival.

Tickets for Sweeney Todd are already on sale on Reseau Billetech (www.billetech.com) and at www.lecapitole.com. The show will perform from October 28 to November 8 2014.

To achieve its goals, the thirty-plus-members team will rely on the expertise of the Juste pour Rire, who will coproduce that Quebec version of Sweeney Todd.

"We are really glad to work alongside De?cibel on such an acclaimed show, adapted for the first time in French, by Quebec artists. Sweeney Todd is known as one of the best musicals ever written. Helping such a talented team put on that world-class production can only result in a totally crazy show!", tells Serge Postigo, VP of the Festival and CCO at Group Juste pour Rire.

Juste Pour Rire was founded by Gilbert Rozon in 1983. Thirty years later, Rozon co-founded Just For Laughs Theatricals, who produced Broadway's Kinky Boots, Rocky and Bullets Over Broadway, as well as London's A Chorus Line, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and I Can't Sing.

On top of winning 8 Tony Awards, 6 Drama Desk Awards and 3 Olivier Awards, the musical thriller has had over 15 adaptations worldwide since its original production in 1979. The music and lyrics are from living-legend Stephen Sondheim, who also wrote the lyrics for the famous West Side Story and Gypsy. Sweeney Todd was made into a motion picture by famous director Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

AUDITIONS: Decibel is still looking for two actors to complete its cast. It's a unique opportunity to join an all-star cast, as well as performing on one of Canada's greatest stage.

Auditions will be held in Montreal on April 26 and in Quebec City on April 27. Decibel is looking for its Adolfo Pirelli (male, tenor, age 30-45) and its Beggar Woman (woman, soprano). Artists who wish to audition for the show can send their resume and a sound demo to auditions@theatredecibel.com before March 24.
