Deadline for Bad Musicals Fest '08 Submissions is March 31

By:

NY Artists Unlimited is inviting submissions for the Bad Musicals Festival '08, which is projected for July-August at the Grand Theatre of the Producers' Club in the theatre district/Times Square area.

"NO, these are not bad plays, they have to be really GOOD plays that are politically incorrect, political satire, contain bad language/bad puns, or the ilk.  They can be musicals, plays with music, or any combination of the two, but under 45 minutes," describe press notes.  Produced/unproduced okay.  Directors are also being sought.

Last fall, legendary director Tom O'Horgan (Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar) was presented with an Honorary Golden Pineapple.

Guidelines and the application form can be accessed at: www.NYartists.org. The submission fee is $20.  Deadline is March 31, 2008.

Cold readings start in April, so get your stuff to us as quickly as possible.  Submissions will not be accepted without applicants reading the guidelines and attaching the application form.  This festival is supported in part by the Dramatists Guild Fund and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

NY Artists Unlimited is a 25 year old, nonprofit, multicultural company that takes professional theatre to under-served audiences.  For the past 3 years, they have produced the Bad Plays Festival, Bad Musicals Festival, and Best in Fest, under the umbrella of The International Cringe Festival.  See website for further info:  www.NYartists.org.
