According to a report by The Sun, ITV is in talks with Vicar of Dibley and comedy star Dawn French to judge its new musical reality show Superstar.

"Andrew is looking for the cream of British acting and showbiz stars for Superstar and Dawn has caught his eye," a source told The Sun. "She is outspoken, someone who connects with ordinary people and has years and years of experience."

Last February, ITV1 and Andrew Lloyd Webber announced the show, described as "a brand new show that will give the British public the chance to choose the country’s next major rock star." The show seeks the new lead in an arena tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, to kick of at the O2 Arena in London.

Lloyd Webber is still in the process of choosing the rest of the judging panel, which will decide who will play JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR's lead role in the tour. The callback panel currently includes Jason Donovan and former Spice Girl Mel C. The show will air as a two-week special in July 2012.

Though Lloyd Webber's previous reality searches (How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?, I'd Do Anything, Any Dream Will Do and Over The Rainbow) aired on the BBC, ITV is not a stranger to musical reality shows as it aired 'Grease is the Word' in 2007, casting a Danny and Sandy in the London revival of Grease.
