Darrell Hammond Added to Comedy Cares 3 on April 3

Comedian DARRELL HAMMOND best known for his impressions of Bill Clinton, and the entire Bush cabinet (Cheney, Ashcroft, and Rumsfeld) on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" has joined the roster for next Monday's COMEDY CARES 3 - benefit for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS at Caroline's on Broadway. HAMMOND will be joined on the stage by evening's host and co-producer Jim David of "Comedy Central Presents" and "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn."

HAMMOND and DAVID will be joined by an all star "comedian's comedian" line up that includes the hilarious, live comedic talents of JOHN PINETTE (Stand-Up Comedian of the Year-the American Comedy Awards, Edna Turnblad in Broadway's "Hairspray", final episode of Seinfeld), Judy Gold (HBO At the Movies, "G-D Doesn't Pay Rent Here"), LARRY AMOROS (Emmy nominated comedian and writer for the Rosie O'Donnell Show), and BOB SMITH (HBO's "The Bob Smith Comedy Half-Hour", Comedy Central's "Out There")! The yearly benefit is the brainchild of comedian and host Jim David. Past COMEDY CARES comics have included: KATE CLINTON, Colin Quinn, Mario Cantone, COREY KAHANEY, Julie Halston, Rick Crom, and JOY BEHAR. Since it's inception in 2004, COMEDY CARES has raised over $15,000 for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. Final comedians subject to change.

DARRELL HAMMOND - Now in his eighth season on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," Darrell Hammond is best known for the impressions he has brought to the show that have been applauded by television critics and viewers alike for their uncanny accuracy and range.

After playing President Bill Clinton for most of his time in office, Hammond has taken over playing practically the entire Bush Administration from Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge – sometimes in the same sketch. Hammond performed as Vice President Al Gore in a performance so telling that it was used as a reference in preparation for the 2000 Presidential debates. Other political highlights include Jesse Jackson and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Hammond has also played media figures including Dan Rather, Ted Koppel, Geraldo Rivera, Sam Donaldson, Bob Costas, Tim Russert, Phil Donahue and Chris Matthews of MSNBC's "Hardball" as well as celebrities (Sean Connery, Jay Leno, and Regis Philbin).

For the last several years, Hammond has been performing stand-up comedy and impressions in New York and throughout the country. On film, he has lent his vocal talents to the recent animated version of "The King And I." On television, Hammond has appeared on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit;" "Late Show with David Letterman," "The Hollywood Squares," MTV, Showtime, Comedy Central, VH-1 and A&E's "Comedy on the Road."

Judy Gold gets around. It's pretty hard to miss Judy these days. She's the saucy, gregarious host of HBO's "At the Multiplex with Judy Gold" and is a regular fixture on Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" and "Hollywood Squares." She can often be seen gabbing with the girls on "The View" and reminiscing about the past and counting down the greatest videos and celebrity moments on "VH-1's All Access." Judy's half hour special "Comedy Central Presents: Judy Gold" continues to receive high ratings as does Comedy Central's recent special, "Tough Crowd Stands Up."

And if you think Judy has forgotten her roots... think again. She was recently featured on the BBC and Comedy Central special, "The Heroes of Jewish Comedy," and her one-person show about Jewish mothers, "G-d Doesn't Pay Rent Here," debuted to rave reviews at The Empty Space Theatre in Seattle. Judy also co-starred in the off-Broadway production of "The Vagina Monologues."

On the small screen, Judy has appeared on a plethora of shows including "Sex & The City," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Law & Order", "Law & Order, S.V.U.", "The Drew Carey Show", and "As The World Turns", just to name a few. She also co-starred with Glenn Close in the CBS movie of the week, "The Ballad of Lucy Whipple."

She is surely no stranger to awards, either. Judy won 2 Emmy Awards for writing and producing "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", and she won a Cable Ace award for her own HBO half hour special. She was nominated twice for The American Comedy Award's funniest female stand-up.

Judy lives in New York City with her family, and tours theatres and comedy clubs around the country.

BIOGRAPHIES

JOHN PINETTE has been entertaining audiences around the world for more than 15 years. Shortly after he began touring comedy clubs around the country, John got his big break when he was asked to tour with Frank Sinatra. Since then he has been a regular guest on "The Tonight Show" and "The View." John has also enjoyed a long-acting career in both television and film. Duets, starring Gwyneth Paltrow; Dear God, starring Greg Kinnear; and Junior, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, are just a few of John's film credits. He was a series regular on the hit series "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" and starred as the car-jack victim in the final episode of "Seinfeld." He was seen this summer as the lovable Mr. Bump in The Punisher starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta. He was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by the American Comedy Awards in 1999 and received a Gemini Award nomination for his superb televised performance at the Montreal Comedy Festival in 2000. John's first comedy CD, Show Me the Buffet, and follow-up CD/DVD, I Say 'Nay Nay,' have both been enormously successful.

BOB SMITH - Smith has the distinction of being the first openly gay comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and have his own HBO comedy special. He was also the head writer and one of the performers on Comedy Central's Out There, and Smith wrote the comic monologues for a screenplay about a gay stand-up comic based on Paul Monette's book, Halfway Home, for Steven Spielberg's company, Amblin. Bob's recent book, Growing Up Gay, published by Walt Disney's Hyperion, received great reviews and immediately sold out its first printing. According to the press release, Growing Up Gay is "even going to be published in Italian! Talk about Homo L'uomo!"

Smith's other TV appearances include A&E's Evening at the Improv and Tom Snyder's late-night talk show. He also writes a humor column for Men's Style magazine.

LARRY AMOROS is a playwright and writer-producer for television and concert series, whose current projects include "SIMPLY SKETCH" for the Logo network, and The 2006 ESPY AWARDS" for ESPN. He also serves as head writer for THE FRIARS CLUB ROASTS (including 2004's celebrated roast of Donald Trump). He serves as a consulting producer for the PBS news magazine, "CALIFORNIA CONNECTED," and is currently developing the comedy series, "AN AFFAIR TO DISMEMBER" for SONY-TV.

Mr.Amoros was the chief writer for Tovah Feldshuh's acclaimed off-Broadway show, "OUT OF HER MIND." He is currently writing the book for the new stage show, 'ONLY IN NEW YORK," hosted by Cindy Adams, and has just completed writing a satire for the stage, "SEX WITH THE CITY" a comedy with music, Mr. Amoros has written special material for celebrities as diverse as Joy Behar, Joan Rivers and Rosie O'Donnell to Lesley Stahl, Suzanne Somers and Jane Fonda. Since 1992 Larry has been collaborating with Barry Manilow on his television specials and international concert tours.

Larry has appeared frequently himself at The Edinburgh Festival of the Arts, and his fringe entry, the multimedia show, "THE UNBEARABLE HEAVINESS OF ME," played with great success at The Queens Theater, in the West End of London.

Other television writing credits include "THE NANNY," "THE Rosie O'Donnell SHOW," and numerous award shows. Mr. Amoros is also a frequent contributor to ESPN.

His first book, "MONICA'S UNTOLD STORY,"" was written in collaboration with illustrator Bill Plympton and published last year by Harper Collins; his second book, a humor anthology written with Soupy Sales was released by Evans Publishing in March 2003.
