Variety reports exclusively that DOWNTON ABBEY's Dan Stevens has signed on to join Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis in Voltage Picture's upcoming sci-fi movie COLOSSAL. Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) will pen the script and direct.

In the film described as GODZILLA meets Lost in Translation, Hathaway will portray Gloria, "an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown."

The story will center on "a woman who moves back to her hometown after losing her job and boyfriend in New York, only to discover that she is somehow strangely connected to a giant creature that has materialized over Seoul and is wreaking havoc on the city." Stevens will take on the role of the "ex-boyfriend who originally scorns her only to have to later fight to win her back."

The film is currently in production in Vancouver.

Stevens was recently seen on the big screen in "The Guest," "A Walk Among the Tombstones" and "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb." His upcoming projects include "Criminal Activities" and portraying The Beast in Disney's live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" co-starring Emma Watson. He made his Broadway debut in THE HEIRESS.

Hathaway was recently seen on the big screen in Nancy Meyers' The Intern, co-starring Robert De Niro. She will also reprise her role as THE WHITE QUEEN in Disney's sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass, coming to theaters May 27, 2016.
