DUPAC Presents HAMLET 11/13-15 At Lund Auditorium

By:

Shakespeare's MACBETH adapted and directed by Krista Hansen November 13, 14, and 15, 2009, Friday and Saturday :: 7:30 p.m. | Sunday :: 3:00 p.m. at Lund Auditorium

What would you do to get what you want? To provide for your family? To have power? To be king?

What would you sacrifice? Your life? Your morals? Your sanity?

Shakespeare's Macbeth is one of his most thought-provoking dramas. An up-close view of one man's journey from hero to tyrant to outcast, and the devastating consequences of his high-stakes pursuit of greatness with no regard for the cost.

True to Shakespeare's language, but staged in a contemporary urban setting, this production of Macbeth brings the story boldly into context for today's audiences - replacing the battle for the crown of Scotland with a present-day world of gangs, guns and societal concerns including violence, human trafficking and homelessness.

The Wednesday Journal's Doug Deuchler had this to say about the show (on his Facebook page) "I'm doing a promo piece on Dominican University's new production of "MACBETH" so I attended a rehearsal and was blown away by it. Locals, don't miss this show when it opens in 2 weeks. It's a contemporary, urban spin on the Scottish play--kind of "C.S.I. Miami" meets "The Sopranos." Very thrilling! The Bard would be proud."
