Indie feature DETOURS kicks off its limited theatrical release at the historic Stutter Creek Theatre in Sutter Creek, CA on July 22.

Richard Kind (Inside Out), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), and Michael Cerveris (TONY Award winner for Fun Home on Broadway) join stars Tara Westwood (Surviving Family) and Carlo Fiorletta (Available: A Modern Day Fairy Tale) in this road trip comedy about starting over at any age.

When newly-single New Yorker Jennifer Giraldi (Westwood) must re-locate to Florida for a new job, she travels south with her widowed dad (Fiorletta) and her mom's ashes in a coffee can. The movie was shot between New York City and Florida and captures the beauty of both city and seaside.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale area feature editor Jennifer Heit says of DETOURS, "With much candor and a touch of whimsy, DETOURS explores the issues all of us grapple with - grief, rejection, insecurity - while showing how even just a kernel of hope helps manage life's inevitable messiness."

DETOURS premiered at the Sunscreen Film Festival in Saint Petersburg, Florida and is an official selection of the upcoming Long Island International Film Festival. It will screen at The Strand Theatre in Lakewood, NJ in September with additional dates and locations coming soon; booking is being handled by Monrovia, CA-based ASA Films.

DETOURS was directed by Robert McCaskill (Heterosexuals) from a screenplay by Mara Lesemann (Surviving Family).
