Showbiz411.com has reported that a previously announced Critics Choice Award nomination for "Homeland" star and Broadway legend, Mandy Patinkin, has been rescinded. Citing a discrepancy with the show's finale date, the Critics' Choice committee was forced to rescind its nomination for the star, instead awarding the nomination slot to Better Call Saul's, Michael McKean.
In a letter to its members, the committee explained, "As Homeland concluded its fifth season on December 20, 2015, it is technically not eligible for this year's Critics' Choice Awards. While we anxiously await its season six premiere on January 15, we regretfully must rescind the previously announced nomination for Mandy Patinkin. Replacing him as a nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama is the next highest vote getter, Michael McKean from Better Call Saul. We apologize for the error."
Patinkin currently stars in Showtime's Homeland and lends his voice to Papa Smurf in Sony's upcoming animated franchise reboot. The actor made his 1980 Broadway debut, Mandy won a Tony Award for his role as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and was nominated in 1984 for his starring role as George in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Sunday in the Park with George. Mandy's other stage credits include: Compulsion, Paradise Found, The Tempest, Enemy of the People, The Wild Party, Falsettos, The Secret Garden, The Winter's Tale, The Knife, Leave It to Beaver is Dead, Rebel Women, Hamlet, Trelawney of the 'Wells,' The Shadow Box, The Split, Savages, and Henry IV, Part I.
