Next week, the U.S. House of Representatives will bring to the House floor, a Continuing Resolution (CR) appropriations package that proposes to cut dozens of federal agencies and programs for the balance of the current 2011 fiscal year (March 5 through September 30).

The National Endowment for the Arts is targeted for a $22.5 million cut in the legislative proposal, and it is quite possible members of the Republican Study Committee will offer amendments to fully eliminate the NEA during floor consideration.  We need you to send a message to your Members calling on them to reject these cuts to the NEA.

Through its core programs--Access to Artistic Excellence, Challenge America: Reaching Every Community, Federal/State Partnerships, and Learning in the Arts--the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) funds dance, design, folk & traditional arts, literature, local arts agencies, media arts, multidisciplinary, museums, music, musical theater, opera, presenting, theater, and visual arts.

Please take a few minutes to write to your elected officials and ask them to support the National Endowment for the Arts. To learn more about the programs of the National Endowment for the Arts, click here.

Americans for the Arts has prepared a form that can be submitted to your elected officials so as to urge their support of the National Endowment for the Arts. To access the form, click here.
