82nd Academy Awards To Feature 10 Best Picture Nominees, Ceremony Held - 3/7/2010
The 82nd Academy Awards, which will be presented on March 7, 2010, will have 10 feature films vying in the Best Picture category, Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis announced today (June 24) at a press conference in Beverly Hills.

Rules Approved For 82nd Academy Awards, Ceremony Held - 3/7/2010
The governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences approved the rules for the 82nd Academy Awards at their meeting earlier this week (6/23). In addition to the previously announced change in the Best Picture category, a significant change was made in the Music - Original Song category.

Shankman & Mechanic Named OSCAR Telecast Producers; Academy Awards to Air on ABC - 3/7/2010
Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced today. This will be the first major Oscar show involvement for both men.

Theater for the New City is pleased to announce that Charles Busch's new comedy THE DIVINE SISTER will play a limited premiere showcase engagement at Theater for the New City's Cino Theater (155 First Avenue). The developmental production, directed by Busch's longtime collaborator Carl Andress (The Third Story; Die, Mommie, Die!) will play a limited engagement of 24 performances from Saturday, February 6 through Sunday, March 7.

Defending the Caveman, the history-making comedy about the sexes, begins a limited Off-Broadway engagement February 23rd, with opening night set for March 7th, at The Downstairs Theatre at Sofia's, 221 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, in the heart of Broadway. This limited engagement runs through April 18th. Defending The Caveman will be presented by Theater Mogul NA Inc., in association with Entertainment Events Inc.

This Spring, Off-Broadway's Irish Repertory Theatre presents CANDIDA -- George Bernard Shaw's classic about a clergyman and his wife who captures the attention of a young poet -- with previews scheduled to begin February 24, prior to its official press opening on March 7 at the Irish Repertory Theatre in Manhattan. Tony and Oscar Award-winner Tony Walton, who helmed the Irish Repertory's acclaimed revivals of Shaw's THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE and MAJOR BARBARA, will direct.

Public LAB Closes NEIGHBORS - 3/7/2010
The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced complete casting for NEIGHBORS, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Niegel Smith, the second show of the 2009-2010 Public LAB season. NEIGHBORS begins performances on Tuesday, February 16 and runs through Sunday, March 7. Tickets go on-sale on Wednesday, January 20.

Michael Aronov's Manigma, which played the 78th Street Theatre Lab in during the 2006 - 2007 holiday season will get an off-Broadway run at The Harold Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row. Stephen Adly Guirgis will direct the piece, about six dynamic lives that journey through smiles and pain in hopes of change. The production will run from January 15-March 13, 2010.
