Opera Columbus and Shadowbox Live's LA BOHÈME Begins Second Run - 2/17/2013

Due to an at-capacity run of Opera Columbus and Shadowbox Live's cabaret-style version of Puccini's La boheme in 2012, the collaborative production will be remounted for a 2013 run February 17-April 14. Cast with local performers, it will be funded by a grant from PNC Arts Alive, a multi-year initiative to support visual and performing arts groups with the goal of increasing arts access and engagement in new and innovative ways.

Chicago Opera Theatre Opens New Season With THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER - 2/23/2013

Andreas Mitisek announced today Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) 2013 Season, his first as General Director. The season opens in February of 2013 with the Chicago Premiere of Philip Glass' The Fall of the House of Usher, followed by Ástor Piazzolla's Maria de Buenos Aires in April, and concluding in September with another Chicago Premiere, Giuseppe Verdi's Joan of Arc (Giovanna d'Arco). These three new productions will be presented at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park.

The iconic performer will begin this limited Broadway engagement on Friday evening, January 18, 2013, at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Opening Night is set for Thursday, January 24, 2013.

Museum of the Moving Image celebrates the Chinese New Year with a special screening and live event devoted to legendary kung fu grandmaster, Pui Chan, one of the martial arts pioneers who introduced traditional Chinese kung fu to the United States. Pui Chan: Kung Fu Pioneer, a new film about Chan, directed by his daughter Mimi Chan, will screen at the Museum on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. as part of its Fist and Sword martial arts showcase. Mimi Chan will appear in person at the screening, with special guests who will perform a traditional Chinese lion dance.


Marvell Rep Opens NIGHT GAMES - 2/23/2013

NIGHT GAMES by Lenny Leibowitz, was originally scheduled to open at Marvell Rep on Thursday, February 14 at 8 PM. It will now be opening Saturday, February 23 at 8 p.m. in its world premiere, adapted from the novella Spiel im Morgengrauen by Arthur Schnitzler.
