TV and theatre star Colm Meaney will join the previously-announced Kevin Spacey and Eve Best in the upcoming Old Vic production of Eugene O'Neill's classic drama A Moon for the Misbegotten, which will begin performances on September 15th and open on September 26th.
It was previously announced that Best (Mourning Becomes Electra, Hedda Gabler in London) will play nurturing earth mother Josie to Oscar-winner Spacey's alcoholic actor James Tyrone in the production; Meaney will portray Phil Hogan, Josie's father. Howard Davies, who previously directed Spacey (the artistic director of the Old Vic) in The Iceman Cometh on Broadway, is set to stage the play, which will run into the holiday season.
Meaney, who is best known for his work as Miles O'Brien on TV's "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," was for a time a member of the Irish National Theatre and also appeared on London stages in the Donmar Warehouse's Juno and the Paycock. Other TV and film credits include "Stargate: Atlantis," Layer Cake, Intermission, Mystery, Alaska, Claire Dolan, The Road to Welville, "Scarlett," The Last of the Mohicans and Dick Tracy.
In addition to Misbegotten, the Old Vic's next season will feature a revival of The Entertainer, starring Robert Linsday, among other offerings.
