Clapp Becomes Interim Director of Chicago League

By:

According to Variety legit consultant Deborah L. Clapp is the new interim exec director of the League of Chicago Theaters.

The League is an alliance of 200 theater ogrganizations performing on around 115 area venues. It is likely that Clapp's interim status will become more permanent once she begins working full-time with the League in August. Currently she has prior commintments that keep her from working for the League full time.

Chicago theatre has been a regular presence in New York, with Tony and Pulitzer winner "August: Osage County" originating at the Steppenwolf last year and the regional Tony Award this year going to Chicago Shakespeare Theater.  Off Broadway's "Adding Machine" also originated in Chicago.

Before working as an independent consultant, Clapp had been director of management at Chicago's Goodman Theater, as well as general manager and acting managing director at the Long Wharf in New Haven, Conn.
