It is a film beloved by both film critics and Jane Austen fans alike, and it will get a special one-night only screening at Civic Theatre of Allentown's 19th Street Theatre! Civic will show 1995's Sense and Sensibility, starring Hugh Grant, Kate Winslet and Emma Thompsen (who won an Oscar for her adaptation of the legendary Austen book) on Friday, June 5th at 8pm.

This special event is being held in partnership with the Allentown Art Museum's ‘Fashion in Film' exhibit, currently on display. Civic and the Art Museum selected 10 of the films represented in the exhibit last month, and had patrons at both locations vote for their favorite. That favorite turned out to be Sense and Sensibility, and Civic will turn this screening into a full-on event, including actors & actresses in Victorian costumes, a pick-a-prize raffle and a post-film talkback with AAM chief curator Jacquie Atkins.

Date/time: Friday, June 5th - doors open at 7pm, film starts at 8pm. Talkback immediately after film.

Place: Civic Theatre of Allentown's 19th Street Theatre, 527 N 19th Street, Allentown

Admission: Adults- $10, Students/Seniors- $8, Civic Film Members/AAM Kress Members- Free. Tickets are available in advance and can be purchased in person at the Civic Theatre Box Office or by calling 610.432.8943.

-Anyone who comes in costume from a movie gets a gift certificate for a future Civic Film.

-Civic actors and actresses will be ‘working' the event in costumes true to the Victorian era of Sense and Sensibility.

-There will be a pick-a-prize raffle in which film posters, theatre tickets and passes to the ‘Fashion in Film' exhibit will be up for grabs.
