Actress Christy Carlson Romano will be joining the cast of Broadway's hit musical Avenue Q starting September 29th, 2008. Romano will be playing the role of Kate Monster and Lucy the Slut through November 23rd, 2008.
By the time she was twenty-one years old, Christy Carlson Romano had already starred on Broadway, appeared in feature films, and starred in two Emmy nominated television shows.
In 1997, Romano made her Broadway debut in the musical Parade by Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown in the role of Mary Phagan. In 2002, Romano became the first person to act in three Disney Channel projects simultaneously, complementing her work at Even Stevens with a starring role in a movie named Cadet Kelly (alongside Hilary Duff) and voice acting as Kim Possible. She received an Emmy nomination for role on Kim Possible. She is also the voice of Yuffie Kisaragi in the English version of the movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, as well as in the Disney/Square Enix game Kingdom Hearts.
On February 17, 2004 Romano began playing Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Broadway where she replaced Megan McGinnis as Belle. Her initial contract was extended and seats were filled to 99% of the capacity for the eight months she was on stage.
In 2007 she wrote a book, "Grace's Turn", which received the New York Public Library's award for Book for the Teenage.
A musical about 20-somethings who move to the city with big dreams and tiny bank accounts, AVENUE Q has music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, and is directed by Jason Moore. The musical is produced by Kevin McCollum, Robyn Goodman,Jeffrey Seller, The Vineyard Theatre and The New Group. Based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with puppets conceived and designed by Rick Lyon, AVENUE Q has musical supervision by Stephen Oremus, choreography by Ken Roberson, scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Mirena Rada, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.
