Two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole will be appearing on NBC's musical drama series SMASH on an upcoming episode if a recent Facebook post by the accomplished actress is accurate.
Ebersole states that she will be playing herself in the forthcoming episode, which is filming now.
Ebersole writes on Tony Award-winning SMASH songwriter Marc Shaiman's Facebook page: "I am writing to you from the set of Smash!! I am playing a character named 'Christine Ebersole'..."
She adds that in the faux Tony Awards on the episode itself, she will be "announcing the Tony nominations with Cheyenne Jackson..."
So, is it safe then to assume that that triple-threat will appearing, too? SMASH Season Two is packed to the gills with talent, that's for sure!
Indeed, Ebersole joins a dizzying array of guest stars appearing on the second season of the Broadway-centric series: Sean Hayes, Daniel Sunjata, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Hudson all have made appearances and some will continue to do so, while Broadway icons Liza Minnelli and Bernadette Peters are coming up in the next few weeks.
Ebersole has appeared in countless film and TV properties as well as her formidable stage work, including current roles on the TBS series SULLIVAN & SON as well as a featured role in Martin Scorsese's forthcoming THE WOLVES OF WALL STREET.
Ebersole previously won Tony Awards for Best Actress In A Musical for her work in the revival of 42nd STREET and the biomusical GREY GARDENS.
SMASH airs at 10 PM on Tuesdays on NBC.
