Christine Ebersole Brings STRINGS ATTACHED to 92Y, 5/16

Two-time Tony Award-winning singer/actress Christine Ebersole joins jazz violinist Aaron Weinstein and his trio for Strings Attached, a special late-afternoon performance at 92nd Street Y on Thursday, May 16 at 4 pm. Ebersole and the trio showcase classics standards from the '20s and '30s by Fats Waller ("Jitterbug Waltz"), Cole Porter "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye"), Johnny Mercer ("This Time the Dream's on Me") and George Gershwin ("Shall We Dance"). Strings Attached debuted in November 2011 at a sold-out engagement at Birdland Jazz Club; this performance is 92Y's annual Kathryn W. Stein Memorial Concert.

About Christine Ebersole
Christine Ebersole's name has come to define "Broadway Star." This two-time Tony Award winning actress and singer wins raves, standing ovations and virtually every theater award there is, including the 2007 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, for her haunting portrayal of "Big Edie" and "Little Edie" Beale in Grey Gardens. She previously won the Tony Award for her role as "Dorothy Brock" in the 2001 revival of 42nd Street, and has captivated audiences with her roles in Steel Magnolias, The Best Man and Dinner At Eight.

About Aaron Weinstein
Quickly earning a reputation as one of the finest jazz violinists of his generation, Aaron Weinstein has been credited with the "rebirth of the hot jazz violin" (Nat Hentoff, Wall Street Journal). As a featured soloist, Weinstein has performed at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, Birdland, the Iridium, and abroad at festivals in England, France, Switzerland, Iceland, and Israel.

A longtime member of the 92nd Street Y 60+ program - now known as the Himan Brown Senior Program - and lifelong patron of the arts, Kathryn W. Stein was particularly passionate about music. Her generous legacy to 92nd Street Y funds both this annual concert and the substantial expansion of the senior program's music curriculum. The Himan Brown Senior Program for men and women over age 60 offers a wide variety of classes, activities and special events. 92Y Himan Brown Senior Program is endowed through a generous grant from the Himan Brown Charitable Trust.
