Chris Noth Confirms He's Broadway Bound In BORN YESTERDAY

According to a report from Showbiz411.com Chris Noth has confirmed that he will star on Broadway in BORN YESTERDAY. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, appearing alongside Noth will be British actress Hayley Atwell. Doug Hughes will direct the production that could be on Broadway as early as this fall or spring of 2011, depending on scheduling among the parties.

Writes Roger Feiedman on Showbiz411.com, "Noth did confirm for me that he's planning to take Broadway by storm sometime this year. My pal in London, Baz Bamigboye, first broke the story in the Daily Mail that Noth would appear in a production of "Born Yesterday" with British actress Hayley Atwell." In BORN YESTERDAY, Billie Dawn is the mistress of Harry Brock, a Washington D.C. power broker who has come to town to bribe and buy his way to the top. Harry hires a magazine reporter, Paul Verral, to teach Billie the knowledge and manner needed to make a good impression on Washington's elite. When Paul and Billie fall in love, however, the play becomes a statement on feminism and the power one woman can hold.

The play was a huge hit on Broadway in 1946 with Judy Holliday as Billie Dawn and the play was adapted into a successful 1950 film of the same name starring Holliday as well. It was remade in 1993 with the same name starring Melanie Griffith as the central character and updating the plot. A 1989 revival of the play starred Madeline Kahn.

This will be Sex and the City star's second Broadway production.  He previously appeared in Gore Vidal's The Best Man in 2000.
