Chicago's 2007 Trailblazer Award Night at the Bailwick

By:

2007 Bailiwick Repertory Trailblazer Awards

An evening of music and good company ushered in the newest Trailblazers at the Bailiwick Theatre Monday evening. To see and hear what some of the recipients have accomplished is nothing less than inspiring. The generosity, the hard work and the hurdles that have been knocked down by these individuals is nothing short of impressive. More impressive perhaps is the humility and graciousness of each of this years honorees.

Honored this year were Marcia Lipetz, Neil Steinberg, Patrick Sinozich, Amy Bloom, Art Johnston and Pepe Pena, Honey West, and Dale Levitski. They join the ranks of past recipients: Anthony Rapp, Charles Busch, Bruce Vilanch, Terrence McNally, Greg Louganis, and Larry Kramer.

Musical direction and piansts for the evening were Robert Ollis and James Morehead. Performing pieces from current and up and coming productions at the Bailiwick Theatre were Erik Kaiko and J. Oliver Perry, Katie Mack, Kristen O'Connor, Don Denton and Jay Reynolds, Jr. Courtney Crouse, Ryan Lanning, Shirl Possey, and Dana Tretta who stilled the audience with her rendition of  Paradise from  "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."
