Chenoweth Opens NY Yankee Game with National Anthem, 4/13

PROMISES, PROMISES star Kristen Chenoweth will open the New York Yankees Game tomorrow, April 14 with the singing of the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium. The game marks the Yankees' Opening Day, and will play the Los Angeles Angels.  The Yankees will additionally receive their championship rings at the Opening Day ceremony prior to game time for their World Series Victory last season.

According to an official press release, in addition to the ring ceremony, the Yankees' 2009 championship flag-as well as flags commemorating each of the Yankees' other 26 World Championships-will be on display for the Opening Day ceremony and game, encompassing the roof of the entire Stadium.

Gates open at 11:00am, with the ring ceremony beginning at 12:15pm. The first pitch will be thrown at 1:05pm.

Chenoweth, who was nominated for a Tony for her performance as Glinda in WICKED and who won for her Sally Brown in YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, also played the roles of Eve, Barbara and Passionella in THE APPLE TREE. She has also been seen in SCAPIN, A NEW BRAIN, STEEL PIER, EPIC PROPORTIONS, in the Lincoln Center concert production of CANDIDE, and the Encores! productions of STRIKE UP THE BAND, ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER, and THE APPLE TREE. "As I Am" and "Let Yourself Go" are her two solo CDs. She also played Annabeth Schott on TV's "The West Wing." Film credits include "Running with Scissors," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Deck the Halls," "R.V.," "Bewitched," and "The Pink Panther."

Chenoweth is currently playing the role of Fran Kubelik alongside Sean Hayes in PROMISES, PROMISES at the Broadway Theatre.

Based on the 1960 Academy Award-winning Billy Wilder film "The Apartment" that starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, PROMISES, PROMISES tells the story of the Consolidated Life Insurance Company and Chuck Baxter, one of its charming young employees. In an effort to advance his career, Chuck lends executives his apartment for their extramarital romantic trysts. But things become slightly complicated when Chuck discovers Fran Kubelik, the object of his affection, is involved with one of the executives.

The playing schedule for PROMISES, PROMISES is as follows: Monday through Saturday at 8pm, with matinees Saturday at 2pm, with an added 2pm Wednesday matinee on April 14. Beginning Monday April 19, the playing schedule is as follows: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm (note the Tuesday, April 20 performance is at 8pm).
