Chashama Film Festival Screens 'American Faust: From Condi to Neo-Condi,' 10/25

The second annual chashama Film Festival is proud to announce a special screening of Sebastian Doggart's hard-hitting documentary, American Faust: From Condi to Neo-Condi. American Faust reveals that it was Condoleezza Rice who ordered the CIA to use torture techniques including genital mutilation, fingernail extraction and electrocution in countries across the world. The film is screening as part of the chashama Film Festival running from October 22-26, 2009. American Faust will screen on October 25th at 12:40pm at the Chashama Theater Space at 217 East 42nd Street.

Sebastian Doggart is a film and television producer, director, camera-man, and writer. Sebastian began his career as a journalist in Latin America, working first as Deputy Editor of the Lima Times and then as Economics Editor for the Buenos Aires Herald. After training as a drama director at Central School of Speech and Drama, he directed theatre for eminent British companies Cheek by Jowl and Actors Touring Company. In 2000, Sebastian moved to the USA where he produced/directed major TV series including ‘Project Runway’ for Bravo (nominated for a 2005 Primetime Emmy), ’15 Films about Madonna’ for A&E, two series of ‘Damage Control’ for MTV, ‘Thirty Days’ for FX (hosted by Oscar-nominated Morgan Spurlock, and nominated for a Producers Guild of America award), ten episodes of ‘American Candidate’ for Showtime, and two short fictional films. He also directed Courting Condi, a feature musical docu-tragi-comedy about Condoleezza Rice that won 25 awards on the festival circuit. Sebastian has written two other screenplays, Casanova’s Return and Clinton a Neuro-Musical; and authored three books, including one on the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca and one on Latin American theatre. He is a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He was the winner of the 1997 Hispanic Achievement Award for contributions to drama.

Funded and curated by film director/producer Rick Kariolic, the 2nd Annual chashama Film Festival explores global expression through film making, while setting the stage for audiences and filmmakers to cultivate the unknown in various cultures. The chashama Film Festival has become a platform for a spectrum of cultural, political, and philisophical ideologies, presented in an environment designed to foster creative and intellectual expansion. The 2008 chashama Film Festival spanned three days and screened fifty-four films from all over the world. This year cFF will screen 80 movies from over 30 countires spanning all seven continents.

The Chashama Film Festival will take place from October 22, 2009 to October 26, 2009 at the flagship chashama Theater Space, located at 217 East 42nd Street, and other theatres to be announced.
