Capital Stage Plans October Opening at New Location

By:

Capital Stage, a professional nonprofit theatre in Sacramento, CA plans to open its doors to the public at a new location this October. In August of 2010, the company announced plans to move to a new home in midtown Sacramento.

After six years of performing on board the Riverboat Delta King, the company negotiated a long-term lease on the Old Armoury building at 2215 J Street. Since that time Capital Stage and its board of directors have been busy fundraising to pay for the $300,000 renovation project while co-founder JoNathan Williams has been managing the theatre design and construction.

"To date we have raised $285,000 and construction is nearing completion," said Stephanie Gularte, the company's founding artistic director.

The new 125-seat theatre increases Capital Stage's seating capacity by approximately 12% and positions the company in the center of the city's burgeoning arts scene.
