Canadian Stage Announces Season Updates

Canadian Stage today announced additional casting details for the 2012-13 season.

Artistic & General Director Matthew Jocelyn will direct a new production of THIS by Canadian playwright Melissa James Gibson. Laura Condlln (Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Beckett: Feck It!) will play the lead role of Jane, and will be joined on stage by talented performers Yanna McIntosh (Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Speaking in Tongues), Jonathon Young (Electric Company, Tear the Curtain!, Stockholm), Alon Nashman (Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Scorched), and Christian Laurin (Murdoch Mysteries, Théâtre français). THIS will run at the Berkeley Street Theatre (26 Berkeley St.) from March 18 to April 13, 2013.
 
Joining the cast of award-winning playwright David Mamet’s sizzling drama RACE will beNigel Shawn Williams (TopDog/UnderDog, Cruel and Tender), Cara Ricketts(Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Cruel and Tender), and Matthew Edison (The Real World?, Forests). As previously announced, acclaimed director and past Canadian Stage collaborator Daniel Brooks (I Send You This Cadmium Red, Half Life) will direct the ensemble, with celebrated actor and international film and television star Jason Priestley (Call Me Fitz, Beverly Hills 90210) in the lead role of lawyer Jack Lawson. This marks Priestley's first live theatre performance since 2000. RACE will be on stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E.) from April 7 to May 5, 2013.
 
Birgit Schreyer Duarte (The Test, Fernando Krapp Wrote me this Letter) a dramaturg and director who has worked with the company over the past three seasons, has been appointed to the role of Artistic Consultant.
