Cabaret Cares Gala Fundraiser Line Up to Include Christine Pedi, 5/20

Cabaret Cares/Help Is On The Way Today has annouced their sixth annual Gala Fundraiser will be held on May 20, 2012 at the Laurie Beechman Theater. Help Is On The Way Today, founded by 2012 MAC Award Winner Joseph Macchia, is a 501c3 charitable organization dedicated to assisting children living with HIV/AIDS. The talent line up has just added the hilarious Christine (S**t Liza Minelli Says) Pedi. Robert Creighton, of the Tony Award winning cast of Anything Goes, will act as auctioneer.

“This year, Help Is On The Way Today is proud to be honoring award-winning media personality, Valerie Smaldone, as the recipient of the Spirit Award in appreciation for her continuous support, ” says Macchia.

The Gala will include a cocktail hour, a live auction, a buffet dinner with unlimited beer, wine and the special Gala Cocktail, a live show featuring Broadway and Cabaret performers and gift bags for guests.

Oliver Reid; Lennie Watts, Lorinda Lisitza, Ted Ted Stafford, Stacey Todd Holt, and Christine Pedi.

The ticket price is $100.00 through May 1, 2012. After May 1st, the ticket price is $125.00. The Gala Evening begins with cocktails at 5:00pm at the Laurie Beechman Theater, 407 W. 42nd Street, NYC 10036. Macchia founded Help Is On The Way Today in 2005; since then the organization has raised over $60,000 and assisted over 600 children with immediate needs requests coming from hospitals and institutions all over the Metropolitan area including Harlem Hospital and Montefiore. Macchia raises the money largely through monthly cabaret benefits with volunteer performers from the New York Cabaret and Broadway communities.

Spirit Award honoree, Valerie Smaldone, became involved in Help Is On The Way Today when she hosted their successful designer backpack auction in 2009. She is a 5-time Billboard Magazine Award winner and held the #1 on air position in the New York radio market at WLTW. She has been a “Voice of God” for The Clinton Global Initiative and the CBS Tony Awards Preview as well as a valued contributor to WOR Radio, Theatermania.com and TonyAwards.com. She is an adjunct instructor at the School of Visual Arts, an actress, consultant and private coach, as well as an international speaker on women’s health issues.
