In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ryan Coogler, director of the Rocky reboot CREED, as well as the recent acclaimed film FRUITVALE STATION, revealed that he would love to take the reins on a film adaptation of Broadway's Hamilton.
The 29-year-old saw the hit Broadway show Sunday evening and even hung out with its star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda following the performance.
Speaking at a dinner for Oscar voters held Monday night in New York City, Coogler shared that he'd love to be the lucky guy to take on directing duties for the project. "I think anyone who ever picked up a camera would," he said, adding, "That's all people are talking about in California right now."
Unfortunately for him, the subject of a big screen adaptation of Hamilton was not something he discussed with Miranda during their backstage chat.

The new musical Hamilton has book, music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composerLin-Manuel Miranda, who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire. Hamilton is inspired by Ron Chernow's biography "Alexander Hamilton."
