More: A darkly comedic look at the New York theater world via a talented, underemployed actor who gets her career-making break as understudy for the title role in Electra, THE UNDERSTUDY offers a stand-out performance by Obie-winning theatre actor Marin Ireland as Rebecca. Touted as a face to watch by such publications as Newsweek, The New York Times and The L.A. Times, Marin Ireland's star is on the rise, making her casting in THE UNDERSTUDY serendipitously fitting.

Equal parts mordant humor, Greek tragedy and New York City realism, THE UNDERSTUDY features a talented ensemble of theatre veterans including Richard Kind, Paul Sparks, Tom Wopat as well as Gloria Reuben, Reiko Aylesworth, Scott Cohen and The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi. Mothers & Daughters co-directors and UK natives David Conolly and Hannah Davis bring their incisive wit to bear on this behind-the-curtain look at the theatre world and the cruel mistress that is Fame.

Cinémonde, hosted by Jerry Rudes. long-time director of the Avignon Film Festival in France and New York, is an exclusive screening series of international movies catering to film, media and entertainment industry professionals.

Time-Out New York "Now that Ireland has disarmed critics and audiences with her versatile and intelligent turns in dark experimental works are we going to see this smart ingénue snapped up by the movies?"

Los Angeles Times on her upcoming role in Neil LaBute's "reasons to be pretty" "Ethereal yet grounded, adept at the risible or the radical, at once ineffably abstract and vulnerably flesh and blood. (Ireland) is a conventionally beautiful young woman who has taken an unconventionally risk-taking path and will no doubt bring sharp insight to Neil LaBute's deconstruction of our cultural fixation on physical appearances"
Backstage "By turns funny, terrified and determined, she lights up a dark world; it's impossible not to watch her."
Village Voice "Enthralling. She has an animal alertness-knowing, dubious, resisting the narrative's concussive action with a panoramic form of looking."
