CHAC Makes Journey to God's Country, January 27th
Capitol Hill Arts Center presents Steven Dietz's God's Country, directed by Sheila Daniels (Waiting for Lefty, Arcadia), as the third play in its 2005/2006 Theatre Season. First commissioned by ACT 18 years ago, God's Country has received hundreds of productions around the world.
God's Country weaves the Seattle trial of the white supremacist group called The Order (based on Whidbey Island), the assassination of Jewish Denver radio shock jock, Alan Berg, and the hate-filled career of The Order founder, Robert Matthews, into a fast- paced and emotionally gripping courtroom drama.
CHAC's production features Adam Berns, Gordon Carpenter, Sean Cook, John Farrage, Troy Fischnaller, Chris mcDonald, Peter Dylan O'Conner, Jill Snyder, John Ulman, Shawna Wilson, Kate Wisniewski, and Jodi Paul Wooster.
The artistic team includes Erin Eave (scenic design), Anne Marie Minnick (costuem design), John Harmon (lighting desingn), and Jason Gorgen (sound design).
Seattle resident Steven Dietz is one of the most produced playwrights in the United States. His plays include Lonely Planet, Private Eyes, Still Life with Iris, and Fiction, recently produced by The Roundabout Theatre in New York City.
CHAC presents collaborative and dynamic programs that fulfill the three guiding principles of its mission: art has value; art nourishes like food; show business is a business.
CHAC's season will continue with The Kathy & Mo Show (April 28th-July 29th), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (March 31st-May 13th), and Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party (June 23rd-July23rd).
