CCA Hosts A Moment in Time Tribute to Stan Kenton May 20

By:

The Capitol Center Jazz Orchestra led by Music Director Clayton J. Poole will be joined by the Grammy-nominated vocal quartet The Four Freshmen on Friday, May 20, at 8:00pm to celebrate the 100th Birthday of Stan Kenton in "A Moment in Time"- A Tribute to the Music of Stan Kenton. Tickets are $45 for Gold Circle, $35 for Orchestra/Mezzanine (FREE to members of any school band), and $12.50 for balcony. Tickets are available by calling 603-225-1111, online at www.ccanh.com, and at the box office on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Talk to a baseball fan about "Stan the Man" and one might think of Stan Musial; but mention the same to any jazz or big band enthusiast and there is only one person that comes to mind - Stan Kenton, considered to be one of the most creative and innovative big band jazz icons of the last sixty years. In order to capture the Kenton big band "sound", the CCJO will be expanded to twenty-three musicians and will perform such classics favorites as "West Side Story Suite", "Intermission Riff", "Malaguena", "Eager Beaver", and "Artistry In Rhythm".

The Grammy nominated Four Freshmen will perform their many hits as well as arrangements that they recorded with Stan Kenton and his Orchestra over four decades ago. This second installment of "A Moment in Time" series will truly be an unforgettable evening of big band music.

Celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, The Capitol Center for the Arts is the largest and most successful performing arts center in New Hampshire, presenting a wide variety of events including Broadway shows, dance performances, pop and country stars, family shows, international performances, school-time shows, and business conferences and seminars.

Show sponsored by Merrimack County Savings Bank.
