CA How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Extends to 12/29

By:

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, running at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, has extended its run this year through December 29th.

A holiday tradition for 9 years - and a hit in its current Broadway production - the musical began previews November 11th, opened on November 16th, and was originally to have played through December 24th.  The production stars Jay Goede (A Year with Frog and Toad) in the curmudgeonly title role.

"America's favorite holiday fable, back for its ninth joyous year, is a wonderful, whimsical production that will once again jump right off the pages of the classic Dr. Seuss book and onto the Old Globe stage...Come take part in the fun as the Globe is transformed into snow-covered Who-ville right down to the last can of Who-hash!," state Old Globe notes.  Jack O'Brien, the Tony-winning artistic director of the Old Globe Theatre, directs.

The production, which is choreographed by John DeLuca, features sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Robert Morgan, and lighting by Pat Collins.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas! boasts book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin.

The Old Globe provides more than 4,000 free tickets to Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! for underserved San Diego children, in order to share the magic of this wonderful holiday story with those who may not otherwise be able to attend. The tickets are distributed to more than 40 Title One San Diego County Schools during a series of 10:30am matinees (the Grinch Children's Matinee Series) throughout the run of the show. In addition, all children's (ages 3-17) tickets to Grinch performances are offered at a substantial discount off the regular adult price.
