CAMELOT Comes To Music Circus 8/2-7

By:

Be transported back to the magical and mythical days of medieval England when Camelot comes to the Sacramento Music Circus August 2-7. Arthur, Guenevere and Lancelot come alive in Lerner and Loewe's inspiring musical of love, intrigue, idealism and magic. Moving ballads such as "If Ever I Would Leave You," "How to Handle a Woman" and "Camelot" will have audiences tangled in England's most fabled love triangle.

This marks Camelot's premiere in the Wells Fargo Pavilion theatre. It last appeared at Music Circus under the canvas tent in 2002. Camelot opened on Broadway in 1960, starring Richard Burton, Julie Andrews, and Robert Goulet. It garnered five Tony Awards and spawned several revivals, foreign productions, and a 1967 film version. It became associated with the Kennedy Administration after it was revealed that the cast album was a favorite in the White House.

The Music Circus production of Camelot will star Davis Gaines as King Arthur, Lisa O'Hare as his queen, Guenevere, and Sean Hayden as Lancelot. Time Winters will play both Arthur's teacher Merlyn and Arthur's old friend, Pellinore. Also featured in the production will be Shannon Stoeke as Arthur's illegitimate son Mordred and Karen Culliver as both Nimue and Lady Anne.

Music Circus productions are presented at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, 1419 H Street in Sacramento. Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Thursday and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $42 and youth tickets for ages 4-17 start at $30. Tickets are available by phone at (916) 557-1999, online at www.tickets.com, or in person at the Wells Fargo Pavilion Box Office. For discounts for groups of 12 or more, please call (916) 557-1198.

With book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, and additional material by Lerner's son Michael A.M. Lerner, Camelot is based on the legend of King Arthur as adapted from the T.H. White novel, "The Once and Future King."

The 61st Music Circus season continues with Annie Get Your Gun (August 9-14), I Do! I Do! (August 16-21) and Miss Saigon (August 23-28). For more information, please visit www.SacramentoMusicCircus.com.
