The casts of two iconic musical theatre mainstays stormed the stage of the 2013 Olivier Awards last evening, with West End star Will Young leading the Kit Kat Girls of the new revival of CABARET with "Willkommen" and the feline corps of the UK tour of CATS lithely leaping forth in a fuzzy flurry, as well.

Young leads the Rufus Norris-directed revival of the Kander & Ebb musical classic CABARET, adding a particularly showbizzy sheen to the sleazy and superbly satisfying opening number with this turn. He was a nominee for his performance last night, as was the revival itself and its Sally, Sian Phillips.

Additionally, the touring cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-running adaptation of T.S. Eliot's OLD POSSUM'S BOOK OF PRACTICAL CATS paid tribute to the lady who gave them their memorable moves, Gillian Lynne, as part of a tribute to the legendary choreographer also responsible for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and many more.

With a Roundabout CABARET revival announced for later this year - with returning Emcee Alan Cumming and maybe even Emma Stone - as well as the near fifteen-year absence of CATS from the Great White Way, a Tony Awards in the not too distant future could look a lot like last night's Olivier Awards if we are being, well, practical.

We'll have to wait and see, of course. Until then, check out these sensational performances!
