Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Marilyn Cooper passed away April 22 at age 74.
Cooper was born in 1936 in New York City. She made her Broadway debut in 1956 as a chorus member of Mr. Wonderful, and then again in the chorus of Brigadoon. The next year she went on to have roles in West Side Story and Gypsy, then moving into her first lead role in I Can Get It For You Wholesale with Elliott Gould and Sheree North. The show also marked Barbra Streisand's Broadway debut at age 19.
Copper's career continued to blossom and she held parts in Hallelujah Baby!, The Golden Rainbow, Mame, Two by Two, On The Town, Ballroom, Woman of the Year, and Neil Simon's The Odd Couple.
She received a Tony and Drama Desk Award for her performance in Woman of the Year.
