By:

What a couple of weeks theater lovers have in store for them!

It all began this week with NBC's Jimmy Fallon show which all this week featured Broadway shows from How to Succeed to Porgy & BessGhost and Anything Goes.  Tonight the program will feature Sister Act.

Public Broadcasting is getting in on the action, as well.  Tonight, February 24, viewers can watch the Tony-winning Broadway musical Memphis at 9 p.m. on WETA and WMPT.  Memphis will be coming soon to both the Hippodrome in Baltimore (April 3 to April 8) and The Kennedy Center in DC (June 12 to July 1).

Remember the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Les Miserables? Well Phantom of the Opera gets the same treatment televised at Royal Albert Hall with a cast  and orchestra of more than 200 on March 11 at 7 p.m. on WETA and WMPT.  On WETA it repeats on Monday March 12 at 1 p.m. and Saturday, March 17 at 1p.m.

WMPT will rebroadcast Sondheim, The Birthday Celebration on March 18 at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, March 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday March 18 at 7 p.m. WETA presents Oscar Hammerstein II-Out of My Dreams which explores the work of the acclaimed lyricist and librettist whose work includes Show Boat, Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.

Fans of Idina Menzel can see her perform Broadway favorites in Live: Barefoot at the Symphony backed by composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch in a concert filmed in Toronto: Thursday night, March 15 at 10:30 p.m. on WETA.

And just announced, the other Wicked co-star Kristin Chenoweth is coming to the Hippodrome for one night only, June 9, 2012. Tickets go on sale Sunday morning, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. via www.ticketmaster.com or call 410-547-SEAT.

Finally, don't forget "Theater Talk" featuring the New York Post's Michael Riedal on WMPT and WHUT. On Feb. 29, you'll see Hugh Jackman discuss his Back on Broadway (WMPT). On March 3, Spiderman will be featured.  And on March 7 on MPT2 see a preview of the spring season on Broadway with Jesse Green of New York Magazine, Michael Musto of the Village Voice, and Patrick Pacheco of the LA Times.

Happy watching.
