Broadway Concession Stands to Be Graded
According to a report by Variety, theatre-goers might soon get to see letter-grade signs at the concession stands of theatres of the Great White Way. The Department of Health & Mental Hygiene will soon apply the letter program to Broadway houses so that patrons are aware of the cleanliness of the areas where food is served.
As described by Variety, measures would be put into place to check 'personal hygiene of the staff as well as the condition of the facility and its equipment. They also verify compliance with administrative rules, including signposting.' Health Department spokesperson Susan Craig stated: "Bars are inspected. We have rules for sanitation, for ice, for temperature, things like that." She continued to point ou that the goal of such a system is to reveal "anything that could potentially spread food-borne illness."
