Bristol Riverside Theatre Opens HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, 1/12

By:

They're searching for buried treasure at Bristol Riverside Theatre as the Omaha Theatre Company comes to town for How I Became A Pirate, running January 12-13, 2013. Based on the best-selling children's book written by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon, How I Became A Pirate has been adapted for the stage by award-winning composers/lyricists/playwrights Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman.

Performances are on Saturday and Sunday at 11 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. Tickets at $15 for children and $25 for adults are available by visiting brtstage.org or calling the BRT Box Office at 215-785-0100. All performances are at Bristol Riverside Theatre (120 Radcliffe Street in Bristol, PA).

Young Jeremy Jacob is digging in the sand at North Beach when he is greeted by Captain Braid Beard and his mates, and is recruited to help find the perfect digging spot for their treasure. Ultimately Jeremy realizes that the simple things in life, like a kiss and a warm tucking in at night, are among those that are most important. This is a story of adventure and finding one's own heart - a path that can't be found on any treasure map!

BRT's Family Series concludes with Angelina Ballerina on March 2-3.

The BRT mainstage season continues with the comedy thriller Deathtrap by Ira Levin (January 29-February 24); the ever-popular Gilbert and Sullivan operetta The Pirates of Penzance (March 19-April 28), and the classical drama Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee (May 21-June 9).

Since 1986, BRT has brought consistently acclaimed professional theatre to Bucks County and maintained a long-term commitment to finding and developing new plays. The theatre is the recipient of over 66 Barrymore Award nominations for Excellence in Theatre, given annually by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. In addition to its mainstage productions, the theatre serves as a cultural hub for the community, with such programs as children's theatre, community concerts and exhibitions of local visual arts. Currently under the direction of Artistic Director Keith Baker, Founding Director Susan D. Atkinson, and Managing Director, Amy Kaissar, BRT continues its 26th season.
