Brian Stokes Mitchell to Sing at Denver's Lone Tree Center Opening, 8/27

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell is set to perform at the grand-opening gala of the new Lone Tree Arts Center in Denver on August 27.

The 43, 000 square foot venue will include a 500 seat proscenium theater with orchestra and balcony seating, 150-225 seat flexible theater/meeting space/banquet hall, an intimate terraced theatre for outdoor performances and events, a grand entry hall designed to accommodate special events and more.

The upcoming events at the center will include RENT stars Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, GrooveLily, The Tartan Terrors and more.

The Arts Center will also host the "Lone Tree Hosts" will be a series featuring the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra.

The Lone Tree grand-opening gala on Aug. 27 will benefit the not-for-profit Arts Center's programs.

Dubbed "The Last Leading Man" by the New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell has enjoyed a rich and varied career on Broadway, television and film, along with appearances in the great American concert halls.

His Broadway career includes performances in "Man of La Mancha" (Tony nomination and Helen Hayes Award), "Kiss Me Kate" (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards), "Ragtime" (Tony nomination), August Wilson's "King Hedley II" (Tony nomination), "Kiss of the Spider Woman," "Jelly's Last Jam," David Merrick's "Oh, Kay!" and "Mail," which earned him a Theatre World award for outstanding Broadway Debut.

His long television career began with a seven-year stint on "Trapper John, MD." Numerous film and TV appearances more recently include "One Last Thing", recurring roles on "Crossing Jordan" and "Frasier," PBS' "Great Performances," DreamWorks' "The Prince of Egypt," and his "Presidential Debut" in "The Singer and the Song" from the White House.
