According to a Tweet by Variety, NBC is moving SMASH to Saturdays at 9 p.m. beginning April 6, from the series' previous slot on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. The network will run the season's remaining episodes, which just wrapped filming, but there is no word yet on whether the show will be picked up for a third season.

Ratings from last night's episode of SMASH titled 'The Fringe' were up (0.9/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall) 0.1 of a point or 13 percent versus last week's official-national 0.8 rating in 18-49. Ratings are up 0.2 of a point or 29 percent versus last week's 0.7 in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings. "Smash" is currently building on this week's lead-in by 29 percent or 0.2 of a point.

From Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television, "Smash" stemmed from an idea of executive producer and multiple Emmy and Oscar winner Steven Spielberg ("ER," "Schindler's List"). The series' executive producers also include Joshua Safran ("Gossip Girl"), Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Oscar-winning "Chicago," "Hairspray"), Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey ("United States of Tara," "The Borgias"), Tony and Grammy Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman ("Hairspray," "Catch Me If You Can"), Jim Chory ("Heroes," "American Dreams") and Theresa Rebeck.
