GLEE's Cory Monteith Dies at 31; Press Conference Details Revealed

First reported by the Canadian media, and then confirmed by the Vancouver Police in a press conference this evening, Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead at age 31 on Saturday. Canadian media initially reported that it was a suspected drug overdose on Saturday at Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel, however no official cause of death has yet been publicly revealed.

The Vancouver Police held a press conference at 12:30AM EST, 10:30PM Vancouver time to announce the sad news. Acting chief of the Vancouver police department, and the coroner spoke at the conference, and announced that shortly after noon today a sudden death was reported at the hotel.
The ambulance and paramedics arrived on the scene to find the 31 year old actor dead.
Monteith had checked into the room on July 6th and was due to check out today. He was reportedly alone in the room after having gone out with friends, and was discovered by the hotel's staff upon missing his checkout time.
The coroner has not yet established a cause of death, but has noted that no foul play was suspected. On initial examination, no cause of death was established. They are now gathering information from family and medical records to determine what future tests will be run on the body. Police declined to reveal if drugs were found in the room, citing that the family was just notified under an hour ago.
Cory Monteith, who was dating his Glee co-star and Broadway vet Lea Michele, starred in the film "Monte Carlo," opposite Leighton Meester, Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy. He left rehab in April of 2013, after voluntarily admitting himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction in March of 2013.
His television credits include a lead role on the series "Kaya" and a recurring guest-star role on "Kyle XY." He has also made numerous guest appearances on television shows, including "Smallville," "Supernatural," "Stargate," "Flash Gordon" and "Interns." Additionally, he starred in the 2007 television movie "Hybrid."
Monteith's film credits include "Final Destination 3," "The Invisible," "Deck the Halls" and "Whisper."
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Monteith moved to Vancouver Island at a very young age. Throughout his life he has held jobs as a Wal-Mart greeter, a school bus driver, a roofer and a cab driver, before pursuing a career in acting.
