By:

Boy George, 80's pop icon and the composer of the Broadway cult hit TABOO has been convicted by a London court of falsely imprisoning a male escort.

The Associated Press reports that George, whose given name is George O'Dowd, was convicted following a scandalous April 28th, 2007 incident where the George forcibly restrained Audun Carlsen, a hired sex worker against his will when he suspected that Carlsen had taken files from his personal computer.

The troubled O'Dowd has been released on bail and must return  for sentencing  on January, 16,th 2009.

Boy George rose to fame in the 1980's when he partnered with Michael Craig and John Moss to form the group Culture Club. His mega hit songs include "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and the "Crying Game". His ill-fated and short-lived 2003 musical Taboo, a show where not only wrote the score but also appeared as London icon Leigh Bowery, was produced on Broadway by Rosie O'Donnell. George was Tony-nominated for his score to the musical.
